Spørsmålet
SuperUser leser BumSkeeter prøver å finne ut hvorfor han kan kopiere en liten fil til en større disk. Han skriver:
The pictures [above] explains it well, but it seems Windows will not let me place an 8.16 GB.vhd file on a flash drive with 14.6 GB of free space.
Selv om feilmeldingen han mottar, gir litt innsikt i problemet, til en bruker ukjent med hva et filsystem er eller hvilket filsystem disken de har, er formatert i, er det lite hjelp.
Svarene
SuperUser-bidragsyter Darth Android gir litt innsikt:
The issue is that the target filesystem is FAT32, which only supports files up to 4 GB in size. The error message is not very clear if you’ve never run into this issue before. You can fill the 14.6 GB space with multiple 4 GB files, but no single file may be larger than 4 GB. You’d need to reformat the disk as NTFS or exFAT to support larger files.
En annen bidragsyter Elbekko, gir en nyttig påminnelse om at du kan oppgradere en FAT32-disk til NTFS uten en totalformat:
In addition to David Marshall’s answer, there’s no need to reformat the drive. You can upgrade from FAT32 to NTFS with the
convert
kommando.
>convert /? Converts a FAT volume to NTFS. CONVERT volume /FS:NTFS [/V] [/CvtArea:filename] [/NoSecurity] [/X] volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name. /FS:NTFS Specifies that the volume will be converted to NTFS. /V Specifies that Convert will be run in verbose mode. /CvtArea:filename Specifies a contiguous file in the root directory that will be the place holder for NTFS system files. /NoSecurity Specifies that the security settings on the converted files and directories allow access by all users. /X Forces the volume to dismount first if necessary. All open handles to the volume will not be valid.
